In Musnad by Imam Ahmad, Ammar Ibn Abassa (Allah is pleased with him) speaks of the tradition when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The best practices of Hajj or Umrah are." (Musnad Ahmad)

Regarding Hajj, the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) says: "Anyone who does Hajj and does nothing wrong or commits sin, will return as the day when his mother bore him." (Bukhari and Muslim)

And (peace and blessings of Allah are upon him) said in another tradition: "From the other Umra to the next mound is the only of the things (sins) that come among them, and the accepted Hajj is not a reward but Paradise." (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hajj, Umra, Salaat and other righteous acts are ways to eliminate sins, if a person acts in the manner described by sharee'ah. Many scholars recognize that righteous acts are limited to minor sins; Regarding serious sins it is important to repent.
